DTU, Department of Mechanical Engineering, the section for Manufacturing Engineering has a vacant position as PhD student in the field of optimization of the resin injection pultrusion process.

Responsibilities and tasks
The PhD scholarship will involve developing surrogate models for the resin injection pultrusion process based on input from multi-physics models as well as data from a real pultrusion line. The surrogate models will be used for design space exploration and imbedded in a cyber-physical system that makes autonomous decisions during production. The applicant should in general have a strong competence in numerical modelling, data analytics, machine learning as well as optimization, and preferably with special focus on manufacturing of composites. Knowledge of flow in porous media, heat transfer, and sensor technology will also be considered an advantage.

Qualifications
Candidates should have a master's degree in engineering or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to the master's degree in engineering. 

Approval and Enrolment
The scholarships for the PhD degree are subject to academic approval, and the candidates will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes of DTU. For information about the general requirements for enrolment and the general planning of the scholarship studies, please see the DTU PhD Guide.

Assessment
The assessment of the applicants will be made by professor Jesper Hattel and associate professor Jon Spangenberg.

Salary and appointment terms
The salary and appointment terms are consistent with the current rules for PhD degree students. The period of employment is 3 years.
