President for the International Academy for Production Engineering

Head of department, professor Hans Nørgaard Hansen has been elected president for the International Academy for Production Engineering – CIRP – for the period 2021/2022.

CIRP was founded by 5 professors from France, UK, Belgium and Switzerland in 1951 with the mission to promote research and development of production engineering among academia and industry and across borders. Digitalization and sustainability are important focus points for CIRP in the future. CIRP has approximately 150 fellows and 150 associate members, and the Danish delegation counts 6 fellows and 2 associate members.


Hans Nørgaard Hansen has participated actively in CIRP since 1995 and he has published 34 papers in Annals of CIRP. He was awarded the CIRP F.W. Taylor medal in 1998 and has been active in the technical committees concerning metrology and surfaces. Hans Nørgaard Hansen was responsible for organizing the 2013 CIRP General Assembly in Copenhagen.
