If you are looking for best opportunities for post-doctoral research or work as Research Assistant, there is an availability of Postdoc/Experienced Research Assistant (RA) position at Materials and Surface Engineering section, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University of Denmark. Project is related to investigating Eco-friendly green inhibitor chemistries for corrosion protection in oil and gas and CO2 storage applications. Position can be either for a Postdoc or for an experienced Research Assistant (RA). Position is connected to the project in collaboration with Danish Hydrocarbon Research and Technology Center (DHRTC).

Responsibilities and qualifications
Postdoc/RA work aims at detailed investigation of eco-friendly inhibitor chemistries for corrosion protection using a combination of experimental and molecular modelling work. Project will focus on: (i) corrosion inhibition studies and mechanisms using natural extracts, (ii) investigating molecular chemistry of natural extract providing corrosion inhibition, and (iii) molecular modelling using specific molecules for its ability to adsorb on metal surface and comparing with experimental data.

Planned activities in the project include:

  • Identification green chemistries for investigation using natural chemistry information and molecular modelling.
  • Extraction of natural chemistry for inhibition studies and evaluation of molecular chemistry.
  • Electrochemical and exposure experiments for investigation of inhibition performance and elucidating mechanisms.
  • Experiments at flow loop level to simulate actual exposure conditions and investigating inhibitor properties.

You will work in a research team with both academic and industrial partners in Denmark and abroad. The position is period of 24 months. Project involve some level of coordination activity between partners.

  • As Postdoc: As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). A PhD Degree in Materials Engineering or chemistry with corrosion and electrochemistry specialization. Prior experience on corrosion aspects related to oil and gas or CO2 storage applications is an advantage.
  • As RA: As a formal qualification, you must hold a MSc degree (or equivalent). A Master degree in Materials Engineering, Chemistry or subject related to Corrosion science and engineering or electrochemistry. Prior experience on corrosion aspects related to oil and gas or CO2 storage applications is an advantage.
